In any dynamic or even stagnant society there are certain norms to be observed. These norms are like unwritten laws, based on general principles of peaceful coexistence.
Any violation or negation of such norms is taken as social injustice. Social justice is called for to stop exploitation of any kind by a group, caste or a family.

It is a very convenient term discovered by our politicians and our so called indian intellectuals to get votes from our less priveleged members of our society. There is neither any justice nor even anything social about any of their talk. It just makes them a livelihood. To put it simply, it is anything which gets them more votes or grants. It is a self serving concept.Nobody really cares about doing any justice to anything ,least of all social. Once upon a time there used to be a slogan called democratic socialism or socialistic democracy. It served a certain purpose for certain politicians for a short period and it died a natural death. This will also go the same way. We ordinary mortals will have to sit out the whole farce.

What is Social Justice?
(all interconnect!)
1) on-going awareness of injustice as it occurs (status, power, access); forces that affect all of us.
2)process of action-move from talk to action; inclusive of all people to talk about social justice on all different levels.

3)process of commitment-individual commits to change and affects another-to affect the system.

4)Social Justice is a process (not solely an outcome) of transforming a system inclined to perpetuate injustice.

5)As counselors we have a personal responsibility to expedite this process as we see ourselves as inseparable from humanity.

How we engage in relationships that identify, create, and expand the knowledge and possibilities help to empower us to a higher level of awareness and understanding of social justice.

I THINK it means being fair to all your peers and people around you. I dunno. Just a wild guess. =]
