Perhaps they love the holiday and enjoy the lights. That or the lights are on a timer and the people never leave the house at night. LOL

For the authority on Christmas decorations: www.planetchristmas.com

To answer your quetion:

It is close to Valentines, some people will decorate their home and transition to valentines (using red and white lights). Then, they may transitiion their home to St. Patty's Day (green and white lights). After that, it is a long time to Independence Day (red, white and blue) and then even longer to Halloween (orange, purple, red, white).

Once Halloween hits, it is full guns to get all lights turned on the Day after Thanksgiving. Lights will generally run through Jan 1 or the 1st couple of weeks of Jan (so that if people were travelling, they can see their lights)

well, i leave em on becuz i love the christmas spirit and some people don't like to let it go as fast as other people do. Also, Christmas lights look pretty all times of year depended on wear you put them. For me, they make a great bedroom accessory

I don't know. I mean...it totally kills the 'specialness' of it. If they're on all the time, then it's not exciting to put them on after Thanksgiving. It's even fun putting them up, Chevy Chase style, let alone turning them on.

Perhaps they're just perpetually in the Christmas spirit?

Many people still have their light on (like my sister) Because they r 2 lazy to cut them off before getting in the bed.

Probably just too lazy to take them down so they think they might as well light them. Maybe it is a tradition for them to keep them on for Valentines Day as a symbol that means their lives are full of brightness and love..
