XP 2000 is more of a office use thing

It really depends on what you're using your computer for.

Windows XP is much more compatible with modern applications, and is generally more reliable.

However, Windows 2000 in my experience has been easier to network, and has had a better up time.

XP is considered to be more powerful than 2000.

Although if it's security your after then I truly think you should look at getting XP, but take the nessisary steps in order to make it a safer product than just running it cold with no security software...

It all depends on what you want to do.

If you want to do good amount programming/ development alone. Then I would suggest Win 2000, because it has good Admin Tools, and Performance Tools . But it does not support 16-bit programs (DOS)

But if you want to have all of the above and good amount of Gaming with some DOS program support then you need Win XP Professional edition.

windows xp i'd say. i have home and it's working good so far. i haven't really had any problems with xp issues
