Practice more at home so you can be more comfortable with the moves and then bring it on the dance floor.

Oooohh, there's no reason for you to be shy. I was shy when I took hip hop class for the first time. Just hang out and talk if you feel like it. Get there early to stretch and warm up. Somebody will talk to you, don't worry. All it takes is time. Other people are shy too. :-)

You can try to talk to the people there to lesson your shyness. You can't be shy in Hip Hop class. If you are shy in expressing your moves, especially girl's styling Hip hop, where you have to be sexy and touch yourself, just remember that your body is yours.

you just can't be shy. Honestly, you'll get nowhere by being reserved and quiet. Hiphop is all about expressing yourself. And whats more, i bet the instructor(s) is/are EXPECTING you to talk to them.
It would make them teach you better if you tell them what you are unsure about.... also, others may learn from you as well.
Starting off is tough, but I think that once you start opening up, you'll find that it ain't so difficult to be chatty =)
take that first step!

Do what a bunch of celebrities do ... create a persona for yourself. Beyonce uses one when she performs. Create a character for you to be that isn't shy. Give her a name and characteristics that you need to perform in front of others.
Let's face it, I know long time performers that STILL get nervous performing in front of people. That's just part of it. Most of what we think is nerves is just the excitement and anticipation of performing. Give in to it. Allow it to drive you to do your best. Above all, have fun. :)
Good luck!!!

theres no way to stop the shyness besides just geting out there and dancing but you can soften the ice(or some other weird expression) by making friends with everybody or as many as you can

make friends. also just concentrate on getting better on the steps u do. it's not good to try to be better than someone else. then u will always scold urself when u mess up. that looks skitzo.

try to mingle with other people, to your classmates, share with them how you feel about your class, maybe they can help you even for just an encouragement.. being at ease with them could also make you comfortable..just dance..

you just have to try your best even if you are shy.
talk to the other dancers occasionally too, but not enough to disrupt the class.
