if you have a sound card in your system... reinstall the drivers for it... your system stop recognizing it... you'll get that error after you try to play some of the crappy videos or sound files that you download off the net... sometimes just turning off the system and let it reboot will allow the mixer to reset. If I were you I would check for the latest drivers for my soundcard and install those
