Why is it that when I mention that I've got ex-girlfriends and a current boyfriend it isnt clear right there that i'm bi?It seems that some people even have to ask me if im lesbian or not, why can't someone just be bi?and it not be thought of as a phase? Also there are people at my school who seem to think that just because i'm one bisexual girl i know the inner workings of the mind of other bisexual girls and lesbians, why don't people understand that just because someone is different because of their sexuality that in reality that person isnt really that different from a straight person?

Most people who are straight don't understand what it truely is to be bi. I mean they think that it means that you will date boys and girls, but they don't know that you look past the whole gender thing and that you truely do love the person for the perosn..

Well... we live in a society that seems intent on living by "labels". Bi-sexuality is viewed by many as another variation of homosexuality and will be labeled as such. You are bi... but why even bother with the label. If you attempt to label yourself, you open the door for others to do the same.

So you're a little confused. People get it but don't want to offend you. People naturally avoid people that are different in other ways, so why not because sexual preferences differ? Do you think that others have to accept your position on sexuality just because it's your bag?

As you can see by your first two responses, people are ignorant.

And I agree with the third response, that a patient attitude will help inform people. Anyone who isn't familiar with or informed about LGBT people will tend to believe stereotypes.

How can you expect people to "get it" when you don't see yourself no different from straight people?

If you patiently deal with their curiousity then they will be educated and "get" it.

what you don't get is that they don't get it --because they don't want to get it....they are afraid and taught to be ignorant.
