If every state was to vote out any congressman/woman that has been in office for 8 years or so -providing the oponent is not a total moron- in 2008 and again in 2010, we could completely turn over the government. Perhaps we would have a congress that can work together, listen to the people they represent, better comunicate with us...no 'good ole boys' groups, cliques, stuborn inmovable positions...

Like to know what you think. What would be the pro's and con's?

I realize we would be voting for dem or rep, but they would be new. I also realize that campaigns take money, so electing an independant is slim, but it was done this year. So what if it is rep or dem, it is a new person, a new mind.
The youth. Don't you think this is something the youth would get reved up about. It's kinda anti-establishment. (Yes I am a sixties child, but I am not a protester type) Actually, conservative, but really tired of looking at some of those faces and hearing the same attitude. We need fresh even if they are the rich.

I would like to see a term limit for Members of Congress, even though some individuals with many years of seniority are excellent people.

The current system is heavily slanted in favor of incumbents.

The two party system we live under would be a tough nut to crack.

It has been around a long time, well over a hundred years.

Every independent candidate failed miserably in elections, so a people's attempt at getting our Congress in line with what the general population wants would never fly.

Each Political Party has huge financing from all sources, and this is not an easy task to dismantle.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but for the present, it can't be broken apart.

When we vote for politicians, and they make us many promises, everything changes once they get to Congress.

The new mantra is that they must follow what the big money influences want, and not what the general population wants.

This system resulted in a large national debt, almost at nine trillion dollars.

The best we could hope for is that the new Congress gets those who haven't been paying up, to begin tackling this monster.

Grass roots efforts require the over burdened lower classes to give up some time for political activity.

Nobody I know has spare time to give, it's too costly for those with limited means.

Most of the population has limited means, many on the brink of financial disaster. This was brought about through job manipulation by corporations. Corporations own most of our elected officials, donating way more than the common people can afford.

Money rules. (Not the people).

Sounds like a dream, We need term limits of 4 years only that would work.. The real problem is who tell the electrocuted officials what and how to vote on an issue. what we need is an election of the congress that the government pays for the campaign with no outside help. a standard test to be given to candidates and the highest scores will be the candidates

I don't know what will work but we the people need to take back our country from these rich idiots that just think of money and not the people they are suppose to represent. I think people will need to rise up because elections are fixed and when have you seen a poor or middle class person elected to a government position?? NEVER because the rich get elected and get the corporations even richer when elected.

Not likely to happen. The solution is not term limits, but campaign finance reform. It is too difficult to unseat an incumbert the way things are now.

The only way you could go it is to get young people to vote. The old people are going to vote the party line. I think it would be wonderful.
