I was reading an article that called Tyra Banks fatt and she is still less then a size 5. She seemed to be very skinny to me. (I was really confused) Then I checked out other articles that stated that two women died from anerexia because they wanted to become models. (both size 2).

HERE IS MY OPINION
I personally find that the FLAT BOARD EUROPEAN IDEAL BODY-TYPE BORING AND DOWNN RIGHT UGLY. I want a WOMEN WHO IS MORE "JESSICA RABBIT" THAN CINDERELLA/SNOW WHITE!!!!!
(QUESTION FOR YOU) LETS FACE IT; American women; BLACK, WHITE AND LATINA have a larger body and thicker curves. (Statistics say that Americans have a little more "cushin" than Euros and Asians). Why the HEILLEE DOESN'T OUR IDEALISM or ASTHETICS OF BEAUTY DEPICT THE REALITY THAT WE SEE EVERY DAY?? Most guys I have talked with also said that SUPER MODELS may have beautiful photogenic faces but THEIR BODIES ARE TOO DAMMM UGLY! WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS??? We NEED MORE MARILAYN MANROWS/Dorothy Dandrigde type builds.

Some of you have really not read between the lines a bit. I do recognize that white American and European women come from the same place. lol However, my statement was more political and social. Our asthetics of Beauty (Euro vs. American) are "slightly different." Americans LIKE CURVES, (HIPS, LIPS AND FINGERTIPS) Euros like women to simply be thin. MY Question is why can't they fashion industry (different from movie and film) reflect American norms of beauty???

no one can change fashion and its rules even tho ur talkin about tyra looking "skinny" she is not i think she is in medium frame now which is not considred "beautiful" in the fashion industry now there r new sizes " double 00 " in front of that size, size 5 is FAT so thats why she is being called "fat" most of the fashion models and even male models are going under weight to get the WOW look the the less % of bodyfat you have the better u look those are fashion rules i knwo girls and guys who live off eating 3 tomatos a day for 2 weeks and being obessed with perfection but warever it is "ulrta skinny" models will always have special place in fashion industry

dude if they take fat chubby chicks walking down the runway with designer cloths on trying to make sexy moves no ones gonna buy those cloths and designers r gonna go bankrupt haha

I believe that we should celebrate beauty beyond the shape of one's body. There are many other factors that make a person beautiful. All of the hype in the fashion industry is supposed to be on the clothing, not the shape of the body. Perhaps that is why many models have no curves - the focus is not supposed to be on them, but rather on the clothes that they demonstrate.

Most images we see in the fashion magazines and even on television fashion commercials are touched up drastically. They can alter anything from the size of the waist to the length of the neck and shape of the eyes. So in some cases models may not be as symmetrical or skinny as in the glossy magazine pages.

While many fashion agencies perpetuate the very slim unhealthy look, there are countries that are banning models with an unhealthy BMI in an effort to prevent another anorexic tragedy. Spain was the first to ban model's whose BMI was under that recommended for a healthy weight.

Weight sizes have also become increasingly bigger as the population grows in waist size. The largest global epidemic at the moment is obesity. I've noticed this over the past few years. There are also many more clothing stores for full figured women.

The idea of using BMI as a requirement for modeling, I believe, is a great step in encouraging healthy lifestyle practices - nutrition and fitness.

Where are you getting your information that Europeans prefer skinnier bodies than Americans do? Just because you and your friends think it doesn't make it factual. If Hollywood is any indication, that is not true at all. Not to mention the fact that several European countries (and not America) have imposed limits on how small their fashion models can be as measured by their BMIs. Besides, the "Jessica Rabbit" body type which you prefer, with its gigantic breasts and impossibly tiny waist, is no more easily attainable than is the stick figure body type of the fashion industry. While idealizing a super-skinny body may lead to anorexia in young girls, idealizing a Marilyn Monroe-esque physique has lead to a ridiculous number of boob jobs, an invasive surgery which is by no means fail-safe and which increases the risk of breast cancer. I don't think that anorexia is attractive; however, there are plenty of models and regular women who are not unhealthy and who are naturally thin...it's not fair to constantly rag on people and call them "ugly" simply for having a small build. And as for your question, "why the heillee doesn't our idealism...depict the reality that we see every day?"...an ideal is a conception of something in its perfection, so by definition that will never be the reality that we see every day, unless we suddenly live in a world where everyone we see looks perfect.

its not so much about skinny in europe but fit. You shouldnt be able to grab anything. A girl who has T&A can be totaly fat free...*** is muscle and breats are breast tissue. I like a girl with a tiny waiste (nothing to pinch) but good T&A...and a stunning face.
Most women and men in the USA are overweight (scientific) because they don't understand healthy eating habbits and they are very inactive. Europeans arent just slimmer they are healthier because they walk everywhere...and they eat small meals and lots of fresh vegetables.
I think what is beautiful is when a women is physically fit without being manish. Their is many different body types so you can be fit and skinny or fit and curvy. Most the women you see day to day are unhealthy and no body wants to idealise someone who is average thats boring. Maralyn Monroe was hardly average looking....haha same with Jessica Rabbit...who is my idol....and those girls had not fat on them either.
North AMericans have no clue about healthy eating habbits...so thats why they all look so soft and jello-ey

no pun intended since it's black history month i presume.

I hate skinny skinny girls, they look sick. Everyone should attain an average weight, you look healty and look good. I think curves look good not straight as board/no boobed bodies. People are so into how much they weigh, it bugs me. I wish everyone wasn't so critical on weight because look what it turns hollywood/models into. it's sickening.
