There are no real sites in Alexandria. But you should go to the Greco-Roman museum. Also Gom el Dika a Polish dig. In the ancient port of Alexandria go visit Qait Bey Fortress built on the site of the Pharos. You can also Visit the summer Palace of ex king Farouk in Montazah. There is also a very beautiful little museum in the basement of the Biblioteca Alexandrina. There is also the Cecil hotel which was Montgomery's H.Q during WWII.

I would definately have to recommend the Alexandria Library...
Not only does it contain some of the oldest records, the Library itself is AMAZING... I was recently there and was simply amazed at how large the library was.

There is also a few different Citadels that you should definately check out...

The Bibloteca and Qaitbey fortress is the most important.
Others are : Roman Theatre-Montazah-Pompey's pillar- Greco roman Museum - and the jewellery museum if it's opened. Don't forget anyway to eat seafood and walk on the shore.
