go to Start>>Run>>type dxdiag>> in System tab, here u will get all basic techical information about ur system with Processor Speed.
But i recommend u to download n install Everest Home Edition to get complete report about ur system, it will give u all info, from processor to RAM to HDD to Cdrom all thing.

Each company posts the speed of a certain model microprocessor on their website. Newer models may even be mentioned in the Press Releases part of a public company's profile. This is the easiest way of getting a certain processor model's clockrate.

the speed of a processor doesn't always equal the power or quality of the chip.
for instance: a pentium 4 3.0 GHZ ~= core duo 1.8 GHZ ~= athalon x2 1.9 GHZ

it all depends on what kind your buying

You can right click on MY COMPUTER icon and click properties and you will see the processor speed and the current memory installed.
