I was tested for Strep B at my last prenatal visit and the results came back positive. The doctor told me that Strep B is nothing bad and that everyone has some of that bacteria in their bodies. He told me it's not anything you catch sexually and said I would be treated w/ antibiotics during labor. All other prenatal tests came out fine. No other problems, but I have noticed a weird kinda strong smell down there and was wondering what I can use down there to get rid of it until I am actually treated with the antibiotics (which my doctor told me won't be till I'm actually in labor) to get rid of the Strep B? I'm assuming that the Strep B is what's causing the odor since all other tests came back perfect.

As with any questions, worries, or concerns - ask your doctor. Most doctor offices also have an nurse that can help answer questions.

A foul smell could be a new infection. New infections can show up after a visit with your doctor. Any type of change with yourself can be a threat to your baby. Do not wait - CALL YOUR DOCTOR!

You have a normal amount of discharge when you are pregnant which is usually orderless, the strep b has probably changed the smell of your normal discharge,on your next appointment tell your ob/gyn & he or she can go from there if there is a need for treatment for the smell. If it itches it is probably a yeast infection, but only your Dr can be sure. You can still deliver your baby vaginaly & you can still nurse,if that was your plan. You will be treated with an antibiotic just prior to birth so the strep b doesn't carry over to the baby, who hasn't contracted it in the womb. So just follow Dr's instructions & you should have a happy, wonderful birthing exprience. Congrates.

Have your physician do a swab culture with an ABG. This will tell him/her what bacteria is involved and more important, which antibiotics work for your actual infection. Streptococcus B Hemolitic requires a minimum of 10 days of treatment. Strep B, if not treated/controlled, can cause damage to heart valves and kidney failure. If I understand correctly, you have a genital Strep infection. The cause of this was due to oral sex by your partner. Have him treated also, otherwise the infection will keep returning. As for psoriasis in mucus membranes, I think your doctor is confused. More than likely, you have some other sexually transmitted disease(due to the "smell" you mentioned, maybe chlamydia and treatable with metronidazole or azitromycine).

Can Strep B Cause Infertility

Hi, Vaginas are grubby places LOL.strep B is a normal bacteria found in the vagina of 5% of women. However while pregnant if this is found in the vagina,it is said to have colonised and called GBS. it is possible, but not definite that a baby can become ill from this infection. So to prevent this you will be given IV antibiotics during delivery.Often women are given oral antibiotics up until the labour when IV is given. the baby is often given antibiotics after delivery. Prevention is the main thing as it can cause serious illness to a baby and not treating at all and waiting to jsut treat the baby is often too late.Because so many women carry GBS, and not all of their babies become ill, many physicians believe that antibiotics should not be given to all women who test positive for the bacteria. This would result in the unnecessary treatment of a large number of women. Instead, the focus is on the high risk patients. If a woman is found to carry GBS and falls into one or more of the high risk situations during labor, her doctor can immediately start antibiotic treatment which will help protect the baby and the mother.
I would ask the doctor about the odor, but a sitz bath should help there.thats a bath with some salt in it .

Now everyone can cure infertility using this natural remedy http://pregnancyhelps.info
infertility can run in the family and one of the first things the doctor asks you when you go to a fertility clinic is your family history regarding cases of infertility or other reproductive issues.
If infertility is caused by genetic disorder then it's not unusual that one of the kids (your mom) doesn't have it and another does (your aunt).
two months of trying is still to early to be concerned about the fact that you might be infertile and it's also quite early to go to a fertility specialist. Go to a regular Obgyb to get a closer insight and see what ways there are are to improve your fertility rate.
Also remove alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes from your life because they might influence your chances too. Stress is also a risk factor when it comes to infertility.

Strep B shouldnt have any symptoms. If you have strep B, its something that you have had for a while, possibly all your life. Its just one of the many bacteria that lay dormant in our bodies. More likely a yeast infection. Talk to your doc. There is no "cure" for strep B

It is most likely more discharge than anything else. During pregnancy you have more discharge and that is normal. The strep B would not cause an odor.

Check with the doctor - don't try to self-diagnose, especially in pregnancy! And good luck with the birth and everything else.
