hmm when i went to my dermatologist she just wrote me a prescription but maybe its different. I dont think they do the exam just b/c someone has sex, they are just checking to see if everything is ok, plus if you have gone 3 YEARS without your period you never know if something is wrong. the pill made my period exact, i get it exactly the same time each month, i still have some pimples but it helps with those random, huge pimples that sometimes occur. also, just to let you know make sure you check your weight because the first pill i tried made me gain 10 pounds within a few weeks but then i switched pills and I was fine. dont be scared, a lot of girls are scared but just take deep breathes and know that you are doing it for your health and the doctor doesnt care what you look like down there she prob sees lots

There are potentially issues with using hormonal birth control, so you should get check-ups. Discuss that with your doctor however. Especially let her know that you're nervous and shy. She's used to it, and will be able to make you feel more comfortable.

I went on Ortho Tri-Cyclen when I was 18, and it was a little blue pill of heaven. I didn't have acne, and my bleeding problems were more on the side of too much than too little, but all the problems I did have were magically cured. Sometimes it takes a bit more effort than that to get the right pill. If that one doesn't work for you (if you find yourself becoming the Biggest, Evillest *****, or crying constantly, or breaking out in hives or something), let your doctor know. She can switch up medications until you find the right one. It sounds like a lot of work, but it is so worth it, especially if you do become sexually active.

No, you don' need the pelvic exam or pap smear to get birth control unless you have certain medical symptomsthat would require a pelvic. Since you are under 18 and not sexually active, you can just get the prescription for birth control. If your doctor gives you trouble, just go see a different doctor. You can also get ortho tri cyclen at planned parenthood....they don't force you to get paps/pelvic exams even if you are sexually active.

Yes, BC is supposed to help with skin problems (like acne). It should also regulate your period and provide pregnancy prevention.
