...and now it's called stalking? The same sick kind of people have lived all along. Whatever happened to being romantic? Everything is so cold and calculated these days. Is living in fear holding back our emotions and our will to practice freedom of the self?

Don't be discouraged. I've often felt that any type of chivalric gesture went either unappreciated (in which case, no biggie) or was looked upon as tired and improper. However, I've continued to open doors, escort old ladies across ice or the street, only stopping short of throwing my jacket over a puddle. I was raised to behave this way and will continue to do so regardless of the occasional snicker or roll of the eyes. Those that do appreciate it usually find it refreshing, but I do it because I feel it is the right thing to do. So do you, I gather.

The real question here is whether you're close to your co-worker. Were you in the middle of a great conversation or just walking silently? Look at it from the other side of the coin. Your co-worker might not want you to see her messy / dirty unwashed car... might take the daily walk as a way to relax and clear her mind, etc.... Fact here is that you got to respect her decision at least until she is comfortable walking with you to her car. Can't rush it.

well now these days, you have to ask permission to do so. so you will not label as stalker. let her know your purpose or motive so there's no misconception. since we are living in a very dangerous society, you never know what you are up against with.

i don't mean that you are bad, i feel that your intent is honest and trying to understand what had happened to being gentleman. it seems those days are gone and hard to figure why.

maybe women change due to bad experience, or watching tv with stories that makes you scared, news in the paper, co-worker who is unfamiliar with you or among other reasons that make them skeptical of everyone.

well, at the same time, the paranoia we feel towards strangers today is an outgrowth of the cold-war that took place during the time you are referring to. the difference is, back then, the news focused on the enemies thouuuuuuusands of miles away, and today the news, tv shows, etc, tend to imagine that we cannot trust the person walking down the street, sitting next to us in class, at work, in a movie theatre, etc.

that is something that i require during dating. if i am leaving my bf place, then he HAS to walk me to my car. that is just respect.
i still think that is a nice thing to do for your co-worker....but if the girl thinks that it is stalking...just leaver her *** alone. All the stuff that goes on these days??? I would much rather have someone walk me to my damn car
