From experience I woudl say pit bulls because they can get a number of diseases that cause them to turn and attack people, and smaller yippier breeds as they're not as forgiving of toddlers. The biggest thing is to do your research and go meet the dogs. The best thing could be to just go to a shelter with your toddler and ask them for some help. The volunteers there can help you find the perfect pet for your home. Good luck!

I wouldn't say there's a bad breed to have around toddlers.. as long as the dog was raised right and is friendly, you should be ok. If they're not used to kids though, you will definitely want to keep an eye on them, regardless of what breed.

Are you freaking kidding me? Are you heavily THAT ignorant? "Pitbulls and Bulldogs eating children in a in good structure?" the position the hell did you examine that dumb tale? do not trust each and every thing that you examine. Do your own analyze in the previous you anticipate ridiculous stereotypes and fears as reality. A canines isn't any extra perfect than that is proprietor. There are not any dogs that are "no-no's" for each human being and there is not any such ingredient as an inherently undesirable breed. Pitbulls get a foul rap entirely by way of morons who inbreed them with the purpose of starting to be an aggressive preserve canines. even as educated and bred authentic and dealt with humanely, they're a dazzling, docile and obedient breed only as with another breed or mutt. If nicely-socialized from a comfy age, any canines can advance familiar with little ones. dogs do no longer randomly snap or attack. There are continually motives and caution signs and indicators, yet in case you do not comprehend dogs and their body language, then I recommend you perform somewhat significant analyze in the previous pondering bringing a canines into your position. Even a docile canines without historic past of nipping would snap at a impolite newborn if provoked. countless those thoughts you hear under no circumstances commence with what the dumb newborn develop into doing to the probability free canines. I have followed and fostered dozens of dogs interior the previous few years. some dogs might want to be obdurate, and some might want to be boring, yet all dogs might want to be educated to in good structure your existence-form if you're keen to position in the attempt and time. you've a hell of countless analyze to do in the previous you even evaluate bringing a puppy into your position.

There's no particular breed. Many toy breeds are extra nervous around children because they dart about quickly and the dogs are very concerned with not being stepped on, they can get snappy if they are afraid of being hurt. If raised well and brought around kids some what early most any breed can adapt and be fine.
If I truly had to pick one it'd be a tie between pomeranians and cocker spaniels. I personally seen the most bites from those two and it's usually to the face.

One should take several factors in consideration, the lineage of the breed and how was it raised. To fight? Abused?
Personally I think some breeds are more "unpredictable" than others.
1. Pit bulls
2. Chows
3. Rottweilers
This is not to say you won't find a good, affectionate dog from these breeds but I would be somewhat apprehensive having one around my child. All young children should be supervised around dogs, cats, etc. and taught the proper way to handle them, etc.
Usually if there is a problem with any dog the problem is on the other end of the leash.

Because toddlers like to pick at dogs and pull on them, I think they can never be left alone. Obedience training would be helpful. My sons had their dogs trained before their children were born. The handler came to their home. I believe it was about 75.00 per hour. A dog bite and emergency room visit would be way more than that.

Any breed that hasn't been taken to obedience school, or hasn't been temperment tested by a qualified dog behavior specialist.
Breeds don't kill kids, individual dogs do.
If you educate yourself, properly train and socialize you dog, and never leave your child unattended with the dog, there would be no more baby maulings.

pit bulls top my list. The dog people and animal shelter people told me that after about 1 yr to 1 1/2 years is when the dogs personality kicks in and they could turn on anyone. I personally have watch one pit bull, ( who I thought to be the smartest dog I had ever know) turn and kill kittens and then turn and fight another house hold dog over something they thought was under the refrigerator. After seeing their strength and power,I know that a small child wouldn't stand a chance. I am not a dog hater but I do put safety first when it comes to anyone over a dog. It isn't such a hard decision when you ask yourself if you could live with yourself if something happened to your child because you wanted a dog with a history of violence

no dog should be left alone with any young child, not matter the breed.
that being said, smaller breeds of dogs are more likely to be cranky dogs - especially as toddlers seem to like pulling tails and playing rough.

I find that a Rottweiler and Pitt bulls are some of the most aggressive dogs around. When I was a lad I was seriously bitten my a Pitt bull. I actually went to pet it and snapped at me and started to attack me. I was bitten on the hand (which was minor) but I had some serious bites on my upper legs and around my crotch. I find them to be very hiper and aggressive. They are not too safe around little lads.
