I'm not sure what "damage to the planets" you are speaking of, could you be more specific, or post a link with your hypothesis in it? Thanks!

EDIT- In response to your email. It's very interesting that Mars has a scar (I'd not heard that before) and the mythical god of Mars also has a scar. Since that is only one example, I would need more to substantiate the claim you are making, but I would also not dismiss it immediately. I think it is possible that ancient people who create stories to explain natural events they are witness to and do not understand, it has happened many times before.
Did you know that ancient Chinese astronomers were witness to an actual supernova? I wonder what stories are told in relation to that. Good question, thanks for asking.
