No, because it depends on having two processor cores. "Dual" basically can up to double the speed by doing two things at once using two different processor basis for programs that are "multi-threaded" and can send commands for two calculations at once so the "dual core" can execute them both at once .

Since the "dual core" concept is based on hardware (having two different math processors to handle calculations from different threads at once) and NOT at all changeable with software or even firmware...you can't "trick" your processor into being dual in the same way you can, for example, overclock your 1.3 ghz processor into thinking it's a 2.6ghz.

That being said, >>>if you want performance improvements of a dual-core processor with a single-core<<<, the best way to do it is overclocking (given a good modified cooling system, including huge fans or even liquid nitrogen, so you don't fry your processor). That way you can get twice the speed, which gives the same effect as a dual-core processor without "doing two things at once", which requires a dual-core architecture.

No.

It either is or isn't, unless you know how to magically fuse two cores into a single processor like Intel or AMD has.

Yes. Here is how to do it. Unstick the sticker from the front of your old computer. Then throw your old computer away and get a new computer and stick the old sticker on it. Problem solved.
