It depends on the type of tissue. Several manufacturers make kits specifically for DNA extractions. These contain the reagents needed for the extraction. Some of the extractions use chloroform, isopropanol, methanol, it just depends on the kit manufacturer and exactly what type of tissue they are using.

Depends on what kind of tissue it is. There are specific reagents where you can isolate DNA, RNA and protein (such as Trizol and chloroform procedures). You can also use beads and special buffers to lyse cells and collect the DNA.
