"Sides" (as opposed to the full text of a play/script) are the specific pieces of text that the actors will be asked to read at the audition. Usually a scene, or some excerpt from a scene.

Reading the script without knowledge of your exact role in the play, usually during auditions. And then that way they can figure out the kind of role they want to put you for. :]

You read scripts they provide to find out your ability to act.....I.E. The person doing the interview will read a part and watch you while you read yours back to them.

"Side" is another word for "page." That's all there is to it. Why do people answer questions they have no idea about?
