When people talk about who the greatest qb ever is, they usually talk about guys who win a lot of games, have great stats, and win championships. Now that Peyton Manning has his ring, does he rank up there with Brett Favre, John Elway, Jonny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Joe Montana?

Twenty years from now, history will view Peyton Manning as the single best QB in NFL history. Followed at some distance by host of other hall-of-famers vying to be considered "2nd best" like Joe Montana, Bart Star, Roger Staubach, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Troy Aiekmen, Tom Brady, John Elway, and Bret Favre.

Peyton Manning now officially will go down as one of the greatest ever if not THE greatest ever... is he really? Absolutely not. Peyton Manning is in reality not anymore then an average QB. Look at his recieving corps... I mean honestly... haha, any QB in the NFL could be successful with what he has. He had these players repeatedly for the past seven years and racked up huge numbers in the regular season where it is not as important and consistently choked in the playoffs and blamed it on his team. This year... he under-achieved all through the playoffs and blew everyone of those games if it hadn't been for the his team... you know, those guys he always blamed for the losses... yeah, those ones. And he also was underwhelming in the Superbowl and still managed to get MVP... just silly. The thing is this is when everyone will really start picking apart his game and start looking at how he really plays... or maybe not, the NFL and it's fans are fickle people. Despite what alot of people say... Tom Brady is gonna be the greatest ever... doesn't matter what people wanna think... you look at what he has done to this point as a whole with what he's had to work with... he is much better then Peyton Manning. You put Tom Brady on the Colts for the past 7 years... you got 6-7 superbowls... not just one.

A matter of opinion, here. See, you could say Peyton Manning is best, someone else could say Brett Favre, and I'd say Joe Namath. Stats wise, though, right now, despite age differences, I'm pretty sure Brett Favre is one of the top 3, and not Peyton Manning.

I'm not a Peyton-hater,

but he needs to rack up a few Super Bowls to reach Montana status. In terms of gameplay -- on the field -- he's not nearly as exciting as Montana. Montana was a game-winner. Peyton manages well.

Yes, he definitely does. Aside from his fantastic ability to throw the ball, this season, we saw Peyton overcome some obstacles he hadn't in the past (pressure in the "big" games and so on). I'm not referring to any type of vindication....I'm talking about how he has matured.
I'm would have no problem ranking him alongside some of the best QBs in NFL history.

No.

He isn't 1/2 of the QB that Favre & Starr is/was.

Yes he definitely is. And he will prove being the best ever with more rings and better stats than marino.
