I am about to turn 18 and my dad told me he will give me his AR-15, but only after I get a lisnce to own a firearm.
Where do I get one?
IS there a separate lisnce to carry the weapon, or do I have to leave it at home all the time.
I want to keep it in my car for a mojroity of the time.

Without knowing what state you live in it is impossible to answer that question. Most states do not require you to have a license to purchase a rifle. Some backward states do however. Keeping it in your car may or may not be a problem depending again on which state you live in. Most states that issue a concealed carry permit have it for pistols only. However many states also make provision for carrying a firearm in you vehicle. Yet the arm normally must not me accessible to the drive or occupants and often it cannot be loaded. This makes carrying for defensive purposes pretty useless. In some states you can carry it where the driver has access but it must be visible. Since AR15's can be very expensive, I certainly wouldn't want it displayed where anyone who cares to can break a car window and steal it.

I would check with your states official website for laws that pertain to the requirements for obtaining and carrying a firearm.

Need more info. There are numerous versions of the AR-15. Some states and local governments do not require a license for a long gun but there are AR15's with pistol grips that do require a license. Some states or local governments also require you to register any gun. I would recommend checking your local county and city government webpages. If they don't have any info, the sheriffs office or city police office can usually answer your questions and provide any local paperwork needed. You may not have to get any license depending on the type of gun and where you live.

first off you can not carry an ar15 in your car for self defense purposes you don't say what state you live in but some states like Louisiana consider your automobile an extension of your home but your only 18 so no there are no permits available for you to carry until you are 21 don't get caught with a handgun in your car because carrying a firearm without proper licensing is a felony you have 3 more years just wait until then
