I sleep on both my right and left side, I try to sleep on my left side the most but I obviously can't sleep in one position the entire night. I put a pillow on each side that way I don't end up on my back and it has worked so far. It is hard to get comfortable the further I get in pregnancy it seems.

I think I read that at about 16 weeks you should stop sleeping on your back... it's all about how big the baby is an whether or not it will cut off your circulation. My strategies for sleeping (I'm 28 weeks) have been that I put a pillow behind my back so I can't really roll all the way over - or halfway thru the night I prop a bunch of pillows behind me and sleep in a half sitting up position - like if you had your feet stretched out on the couch. that way the baby can't cut off the circulation in your legs. And believe me, you don't want to do that. I've woken up absolutely tingly all over - my arms, legs... it's freaky. And not good for the baby.

Not on your back...the uterus puts pressure on the major vein (I believe it's called the vena cava, if I recall correctly), which cuts off blood supply to your brain and to your baby! The good news is, if you end up on your back for any length of time, you'll likely wake up dizzy and sweating, which will be a sign for you to turn! As has already been said, left side is best, but alternate between left and right to be comfortable. You can also sleep propped up with pillows so as not to be flat on your back (this never works for me though!) I'm pretty much just getting used to being sore all the time. Good luck.

Yes, it's ok to alternate from side to side. I did that when I was pregnant Also put a small pillow under your stomach for support so that it won't "sag" and bother you when your trying to sleep.

Also get a pillow and place it inbetween your legs. You won't believe how much diffrence that will make in your comfort. A body pillow is good because it will go between your legs and under your tummy but if you sleep with your significant other well they tend to get annoyed by that so you can just use to smaller pillows.

I usually slepted on my sides because it was more easy for me to be comfortable. Try not to sleep on your stomach...but on your back and sides will be fine to sleep in if you can get comfortable. Also if you lay somewhat slanted instead of all the way on your side like leaning backwards a bit with the pillows in place you won't wake up as sore because the weight will be more dispersed than just concentrated just on your upper arm..Where I am guessing the soreness is.

I hope this has helped you...Also a forewarning. I used to only sleep on my back but after 9mths (actually 10mths lol) of sleeping on my sides...I can't go back to sleeping on my back or stomach. =\.......

whatever is comfy for you. try putting some pillows in between your legs it helps support your pelvis and will relieve some weight. i know how it is just try and get comfy and relax. i know they say one side is better then the other but you need your sleep cuz once baby is here you will get very little. try and relax before bed and if you sleep with someone try and get to bed first so you can get comfy that way your not movin around trying to fit next to them. good luck

Left side is best for bloodflow. Right side is next best. back is out of the question unless it happens accidentally. try laying on your side kinda shifted down to where it's almost to your stomach.

Any way she can???????????????

I should start sleeping on the toilet - i would be about as comfortable as i am sleeping any other way and would save myself the 5 trips i make there every night........lol

In all seriousness (i am 37 weeks) and i have to alternate - i get too sore.

I think the best thing to do is alternate sides when you start feeling uncomfortable.

on the left side w knees bent. this takes the pressure off of the mothers torso, organs, back/spine. i always placed a pillow betwn my knees. be sure to walk walk walk walk walk alot the duration of your pregnancy, walking helps in dilation when preparing for birth.
