Being a huge Colts and Manning fan I would love to agree with that 100% - but I am not ready, yet to give him that crown. Yes, he has all these passing records, etc etc - but Joe Montana would still rank above Manning in my book for now. Sure Montana was not as flashy and popular as Manning but he was one hell of a leader. While Manning is only a tick away from earning that mark of being the greatest - he still is one step away from Montana. As far as the idiot goes that Brady is better than Manning - stop doing drugs dude. Brady has had the team behind him to 'make him' look better than he is. Keep in mind that it was not Brady who got the Pats their first title is was Drew Bledsoe that led them through most of the regular season and Brady 'filled in' when Bledsoe was injured. Yes - Brady is a solid and even great QB but he does not have the arm of a Manning. He can not run - just like Manning and both our solid leaders. But ask most any player they would have Manning over Brady and that speaks volume. Now for the fool who said Manning did not win the game for the Colts and that it was the running game and that the Bears gave them the game - Ok the running game was good, yes the Bears had some errors but a true leader guides his team with what is given to him on the plate and takes what is not there - and that is what Manning did. Bottom line - THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Amazing? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. This guy plays like a machine.
Best QB right now? Arguable. Tom Brady deserves consideration, especially since he has to work with Caldwell and Gaffney, while Peyton gets Harrison and Wayne, and an amazing O-Line. It is hard to compare these two players, given the stark contrast in personell. While we're at it, Drew Brees has a shot.
Best over a period of time? Once again, arguable. Both he and Brady have consistent output, but Brady has multiple rings. He can't win the big game on his own, but multiple SBMVP awards can't all be wrong.
Best ever? I'd say there's no way to ever be sure. Keep in mind that in the old days, playing QB was VERY dangerous. Late hits were allowed, harassing WRs was allowed, pass interference was allowed, and even going way back: QBs were penalized for incompletions. Yet despite all of these factors, some QBs not only excelled, but became famous superstars. There is no way of knowing how those guys would have compared to the modern guys. It might as well be a completely different sport.

It is hard to label any player as the best ever, with exception to Tiger woods and Michael Jordan. Different people and different experts will alwyas have an opinion of who's the best. Manning is definately a great QB, one of the greatest ever, but is he the best? Manning will most likely retire as the best QB ever statisitically. He still has five or six more good years left in his career. He may win another championship or two. But I think what places him with the all time greats is his ability to read a defense. He can exploit any weakness in any defense.

He's a good QB but the best ever is stretching it. Joe Montana. Johnny Unitas. Terry Bradshaw. John Elway. Dan Marino.
Give Manning a few more years to see if he can get up with these guys.

I haven't seen many Colts games, but I don't think he's a game winner like Montana was. They say he's one of the best to ever play the game, but tonight I think he simply didn't foul it up like Rex did. Colts' gameplay was methodical and conservative. Their running was superb against the Bears lethargic defense. Thanks to poor play-calling on the Bears' side, there was no threat of a Bears comeback.
Well, as of now, he's a "winner". The monkey is off his back, and now he's *unleashed*. The real Manning era may just have begun.
Bring on the commercials.

I dont know. I still think that Joe Montana was better because he won more Super Bowls, and he did really good in all of them. The Colts won the game today, but it was because of Dominic Rhodes, Joseph Addai, and the Colts defense, not because of Peyton.

The only thing he has to prove now is how many more he can win. When it's all said and done, he will have most of the QB records that are out there. He'll be the best ever.

No. For him to be the best ever he needs to do the following: break all of Dan Marino's records, win the Super Bowl three-four more times, win Super Bowl MVP two more times, and be in the Pro Bowl the rest of his career. Then he will be the best ever.
