1) It is called the "English Disease" because it looked good on newspaper banners and played on the term that already existed and was used for continual strikes in England.
English terms are derived from English speaking countries - since the USA is not a football country this leaves the UK as main source of English terms. This combined with a "we are the centre of the world" attitude has brought the terms about. English journalists would never look to see it occurred first in Latin America :-)
2) Most Latin America countries leave everyone else in their tracks for passion and thus hooliganism. This also extends to countries - look up the Football war :-)
The main issue with English hooligans is their movement with the team outside their country and it has had racist overtone (frowned upon by FIFA). Italian hooliganism is solely domestic (Italian team against Italian team) and does not extend to the Italian national team. This closer to the Scottish model in which the old firms attack each other at home and are brothers when Scotland plays England.

You would have thought, that by writing 'English Football', you would have known the sport is meant to be known here as football... But yes, that does go on, but not the that extent, not any more. And yes, i have been involved in a few incidents, though i am not a 'gang' or 'firm' member and i didn't go seeking the trouble, merely defending myself when other people get a little to excited. Swansea City when they came over and in two derbies with Sunderland. I don't do that stuff, but i can see their addiction, there would be a massive adrenaline rush. And i suppose a strong sense o family, i get that without having to fight people, so they must also. Personally i think the Police should just form a perimeter to keep the wider public safe, and let the animals go about their business.

England has the most hooligans , but now the amount has reduced there but still they top the list followed by France . Germany , Brazil , Portugal ,Argentina and Italy are also there in the list of 10 .
Football Hooliganism has been called the 'English Disease' on many occasions. However, it is not limited to England, and many other countries have serious hooligan problems .
It s known as 'English disease' because it was started in England.
Please read this article : - http://www.liv.ac.uk/footballindustry/hooligan.html
It is very interesting . Please read it .
Its a great question ! ( i am being honest )
Thanks .

well the most violence is with english fans/supporters, i aint sayin every damn british support is a hooligan but there hve been many issues, i dont no wether its true or not, but there has been some cases in the world cup in germany, i think it was with the germans and the brits, not sure.
i was actually quite surpried with the italian incident, i mean, it was jus a local club match, i mean it only gets so serious when its like a world cup or somethin
i hope all those injured recover soon, and may dat police officer;s soul rest in peace.
