They are lazy. Probably because they know that if they don't do something someone else will. Our society seems to be lenient on laziness, I think it is accepted as okay far to often.
They are rude. We have gotten so caught up in everyday life that we forget to use our manners. Stress like work, school, and traffic becomes overwhelming and we find ourselves rushing even though we don't need to. When everyone else is rushing we think we should also savor time. This means people stop being courteous to their fellow man, simple gestures such as holding a door or letting someone in during traffic become less and less common.
Obesity is also a common and not so appealing characteristic of Americans. Fast food and laziness are the main contributions to this epidemic.
I could go on forever, but these are some of the main thoughts that popped into my mind when i first read your question. We are just to damn lazy.

I think to criticise one nation is to criticise yourself because at the end of the day your nation is exactly the same: made up of people. The problems that come up are really not part of the people but part of society influenced by selected 'drones'.
That's not to say the nation has the same problem but the people who have gotten in the position of power (and no I'm not talking political power here) have represented it as such that it's considered the nations opinion - more than likely it's not.
I don't know how it is in other places but there was a big thing here where a lot of people thought the Americans had too much power, and - well - fear breeds hate. Again, just dronage. That seems to have dropped out a bit though.

There are lots of negative characteristics of many nations. I can't understand why these stereotypes are so vivid nowadays. People judge others blindly and they don't think they can be wrong.
But coming back to your question - in Poland people believe that Americans are lazy, that they want to have everything the biggest and the greatest. The most popular characteristic is that they have no knowledge about Poland and they think that we live in the jungle or we are still in Communism.
I don't know any American personally so it's hard to say. I recon it all depends on people who you have contact with.

Some folks feel like americans are "full of themselves" ie. they believe that they are better than everyone else and no other country compares to theirs. America is the best country in the world, people should consider themselves lucky to be here at all. These kind of statements come off as very cocky.
Americans tend to speak their mind. People say that makes them seem "full of themselves". Many countries have people that are very conservative and respectful and what that means is they hold their opinions close till they get home.
Folks also say Americans push democracy in places where there is an economic benefit for their people if they had more control.
These are not my views, but over the years, I have heard versions of them around the world.

I assume you don't like Americans; however, we are very nice people. Don't confuse our government with the average, hard working American.
For example, we are very ambitious and we value education. We love our kids.
Americans are no more overweight than people in other countries, but we are more concerned with self image.

We are arrogant because we think we have the best country in the world and we don't even bother to find out if it is true.
We don't bother to learn other languages (though there are exceptions).
We use more than our share of resources and make more than our share of pollution because we are in the habit of consuming.
We weigh too much because we have enough food and we don't exercise enough.
We bully countries that are weaker than we are -- which is almost everyone.

they are fat, usually dumb, they think they are the best, smartest people in the world when they're not, they are arrogant, money is the only thing that matters to them, they dont want to believe that they are stupid, retarded morons with no life.
