I mean, we already knew that if the Bears won, or the Colts won, either way, their would be the first african american coach to win a super bowl. Is it that much of a big deal? If a white coach had made/won the super bowl, what kind of stat had we seen for him? I guess my question is, why do we have to put such an emphasis on the fact that an african american head coach won the super bowl?

It is a celebration of how far African American coaches have come. Just 10 years ago there were only 4 African American Head Coaches in the league.

The history in America is very important and especially involving African American history and when we have a first we value it and hold it close to the heart. I am sorry you don't understand that. But have you not read about the civil war and slavery and the effect it had on America? This country is still paying for that atrocity and not only Black America. We all suffer. I think each time a first african american does anything lets applaud them.Until one day we don't hear it. There will be no more firsts.

It's Black History Month! This is reason that it is historic that Tony Dungy is the first African American head cocah to win a Super Bowl!

However, African-American is made 365 days a year.
