how many actually came during the time of the railroad workers or whatever or goldrush. how many know your ancestors came then. and how many just came recently. i am chinese myself. just curious.

Take a history class emphasizing minority migration into the US. Another tip: Look for "A Different Mirror: A History of Multicultural America" by Ronald Takaki (Check the Library or half.com). It is an amazing resource for any person of color (I am mexican and found it enlightening as well as informative), as it has info on migration from many world countries.

However significant minority came like your ancestors, for example working on canadian rail roads. (Toysanese mostly.)
