The cheapest time of the year to go to Las Vegas is after the National Finals Rodeo up until just before New Years. For 2007 the golden period is from December 9th until the 28th. If you're willing to do a little research/planning you will find some incredible rates during this time.

To find the best rates use these sites and check them regularly

I'm already holding 10 nights at the Gold Coast(12/16-26) for a total cost of $224, I found this rate on travelworm(1/22) and the Gold Coast "price matched" the rate.

Another slow time is Memorial Day(5/28) up until June the 1st. You can find some very good rates for those four days. Orleans $24 found on travelworm(11/9) > the rates were $35 for those same nights just a few days ago, $35 ain't bad.

The "generally" slower times of the year are from November first until the end of February and from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
To get the best rates, avoid special events and large conventions. Sunday through Thursday is much cheaper than the weekends.

When I find a good rate, I hold the room, then keep looking for a better deal right up until the time I leave.>This is one advantage of using the Coast and Harrah's hotels>they will price match any online room rate you find for their hotels.

to read their best rate guarantee, Harrah's hotels don't make it as easy, but they will beat any advertised price by 25% if you're willing to follow their rules...

The best time to visit Las Vegas would be any day from Sunday until Thursday. The weekends are always going to be more expensive. As for the months, it depends on what you want to take advantage of. If you enjoy the sun and want to use the pool, or take advantage of some of the roller coasters, go between May and September. July and August are the hottest. During the winter months, the rates will be a lot less. Lots of decent rates at downtown hotels. The Golden Nugget is really nice. But for your first time, try to get on the strip. Try New York New York, Luxor, Excalibar, MGM, Treasure Island, The Flamingo, and Balleys (all mid week).

avoid any long weekends or big holidays. Also, try to avoid weeks where there are big conventions. Since it's Vegas, there will be lots of them. Summer time is also really busy cuz people are on vacation.

The weekdays are usually cheaper than weekends. The cheapest time of the year would be during the week on an off season week while there are no conventions.

The two weeks before Christmas and pretty much during the summer are cheapest times of year. Weekdays (Sun-Thurs) are also cheaper than weekends.

The most expensive times to visit are around New Years, any holiday weekend (like Memorial Day, Labor day, etc.) and early spring.

The two MOST popular months in Vegas are July and August, yeah I know I was shocked to hear that statistic.

The cheapest times are November and December.

I would assume the hot months in the summer are the cheapest. It gets HOT in Vegas then!

We went in August last year. It was unbelievably hot (116 degrees when we got there) but rates were lower. If you go when it is this hot try to stay hydrated. I spent one whole day in the hotel room because I got dehydrated. We also had an easy time getting around because there were fewer people (tourists) there.

The summer because of the heat. I would avoid any long weekends or holidays and if you can go during the week you will get better deals on hotels.

Have fun and good luck!
