I don't know the exact number, but I can tell you one thing. There were more of us then there are of us now.

I think I read somewhere it was estimated there were 20 million
Indians here, and they wouldn't be known as "native Americans"
until many moons later when PC became the rage.

Somewhere between 16 and 60 million I'm guessing? Don't ask me, I'm no geography/history wiz. But I'm gonna go with 60...
