Everyone knows "We are the Champion", "Under Pressure" sampled by Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby, "We Will Rock You", "Bohemian Rhapsody" (remember the Mountain Dew commercial and that scene from Wayne's World) "Another one bites the dust" "Crazy Little thing called Love" (Everyone thought this was an Elvis song) however it seems everyone under the age of 21 don't even know who originated these well known songs. So sad....

Sorry Bboywhiteout, Crazy Little Thing Called Love IS a Queen song. Not Elvis Presley! Where are you getting your info from?

I know that's a true bummer huh. Well Johnny Depp will bridge that chasm in between rock history and the crap now. He will play an excellent Freddie Mercury, and the kids who know him from Blow, FALILV and the Pirates movies will love him and want to know the real man behind the brilliant portrayal (Freddie) That will lead them to rediscover the underappreciated Queen

Freddie Mercury the lead singer of Queen that died of AIDS in the lates 80s. Night at the Opera was a good album, that was the album Bohemian Rhapsody was on. And people under 25 know nothing about Queen, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Ramones, New York Dolls, and other rock legends.

Kim - you are right, and for the record b-boy WhiteouT is wrong. Freddie Mercury wrote Crazy Little Thing Called Love in 1979, and recorded it in a rockabilly style, much like Elvis, for the 1980 album The Game. Elvis died on August 16, 1977, therefore would have had to sing this from the grave. (I guess it's possible, Tupac seems to do it all the time...) Anyway, today's youth seems ignorant of not only rock and roll's greats, but also of its roots. Sadly, today's kids don't even consider Queen rock - they would likely call it pop. I've had this discussion with my kids (early 20's) and their friends, and explained rock and roll and history. My son took Rock and Roll History in college; he now understands.

I see your point, Freddie was such a fantastic performer he dominated everything the band did But Queen are still a talented group and capable of great music. Though I can't think of any examples for the last 19 years - which is disappointing

Come on now... you can't make gross generalizations about everyone in a certain age group.

Albeit, I'm not in that age group, but I do know tons of music, because I just love music. My parents exposed us to every type of music that exists.

If you're not raised in a household that has an appreciation for all types, genres, and eras of music, it is unlikely that you will appreciate that which you have not been exposed to. Television culture isn't helping the situation either.

And Under Pressure is one of my favorite Queen/Bowie songs.

I certainly do! I've been a Queen/Freddie Mercury fan since I was fourteen, (I'm seventeen now).

And sadly, NO ONE knows Under Pressure. I always got irritated whenever I watched the commercial that it in it with my friends, because I would get the typical "WHY DID THEY COMBINE THAT WEIRD SONG WITH 'ICE, ICE BABY'?"

AUGH.

Teenagers these days don't know what good music is. Period.

I originally took up the drums when I was 5, and this was the first band that I began drumming to. I grew up listening to them, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Metallica. But, Crazy Little Thing Called Love was created by Elvis, and Queen covered it. You were wrong on that. I have their complete music videos collection along with Live Aids.

Most people I know do know him. If I say I'm a fan of him, first thing they'll say he is dead and he was gay isn't it?
But most people only know the famous songs like We are the champions, We will rocky you and Boh Rap. That Queen did more they don't know that.
