When a fossil is discovered it's age is first determined by the layer of rock strata the fossil was positioned when it was discovered. But that was not good enough for some people so with radio carbon dating you can get a specific date (+) or (-) 200 or 300 years. Radio carbon dating is a scientific method that bases it's conclusions on fact. We now can prove scientifically that an object is more than 6,000 thousand years old. J/S
