yes, the equivalence of a High School diploma is to pass the GED. It's probably easier to go the four years. The tests are quite complex. Nowadays employers are aware of this, and accept the GED as equivalent.

I think it means something like a GED (Generalized Education Degree) which is a degree that is earned by young adults who dropped out of school early and didn' t want to go back and complete their education. A GED is a program set up by various Counties in a State and it is available for those who want to become educated without having to go through the embarrassment of re-entering the public school system as a young or older adult.

Most of the time if it is not understood that the education you have is wqual or near what is required then thre is a test to see if you do reach that level.
