you can't. Once you place a bid it's like signing a contract. About the only thing you could do is contact the seller and explain your reasons. But if it is something like well i found a better bargain, or i decided i didn't want it after i bid, don't expect them to be too friendly. it costs them fees to ebay to sell to you, so you are costing them money and if you don't pay they are out that money and none coming in. That's why eBay states your bid is a contract. The seller might let you off - but don't count on it. And you will probably receive a negative feedback. You can pray someone outbids you.
Always always be sure you want the item and are willing to pay before bidding and remember it costs the seller to list the item and ADDITIONAL fees if it sells so they deserve to be paid when someone bids.

You have to contact the seller and request your bid be withdrawn. There has to be valid reason.
