He says he's staying in the marriage for his daughter. Of course I 'm not planning on waiting for him. And no, we haven't had sex (thank goodness). I walked away because I knew it was going to happen. But I'm curious how many people stay in a bad marriage for the sake of their kid. I can't imagine why people put themselves through that torture. then again, I'm divorced, I guess it depends on each person.

in a bad one right now, and yes I'm in it for the kids. If I left this house, it would fall apart and they would be living in the dark bc wife can't change a lightbulb. It would be awful for them. Wife goes and does her own thing...doesn't understand that she is alienating her kids. When they are teenagers, they will know who was here for them.

These days, people stay in relationships for many reasons. The major one is for "money". Think about this...a man can live unhappily in a marriage and support his child(ren), come and go as he pleases, or he can get divorced and pay through his yinyang: support payments, arearrs, college funds, pension plan, social security...it's all gone, or a good portion of it, goes to the ex and the kids. There is not a lot left over if he wants to start a new life, with a new wife and possibly more kids. It kinda makes a man want to have a vasectomy, doesn't it?

YOu answered your own question. It depends on the person. I personally am in a horrible marriage and have stayed for 18 years for the Kids. I don't wnat some other man raising my kids. In 4 years my youngest son will 18 and I am gone. I will be 54 and don't care if I ever get married again. A maid and a hooker are a lot cheaper and only there when you need them.

good for you for not waiting for him.. yes people do stay in bad marriages for the sake of the children and its usualy the wrong thing to do for both the children and them.. I stayed with my husband for 20 yrs even though I felt within the first 2 that I didn't want to be there but I did the wrong thing and stayed because I thought it was best for the children.. I know now it was wrong and everyone suffered for it in more ways then one.. :(

Face it, Sherlock, he was NEVER going to leave his wife for you. How stupid are you to get involved with a married man anyway? As the wife of a cheater, I can tell you that I don't have one ounce of sympathy for you because any one who gets involved with a married man, knowingly, is nothing but a cheat, a liar, and deceitful. Did you once think about the wife and child? No. Because like all cheating floozies you don't care about anyone but what you want. I hope his wife finds out, kicks his sorry butt to the curb and then snatches you bald headed! You deserve every bad thing that happens to you!

They told him they didn't want to put him through having to choose which parent he wanted to live with !!

People stay in marriage, irregardless if it is a good or bad one, not only due to thier kids but due to their committment to fulfill vows they have made. to some people, this might sound weird, but for the people who made a vow, it represents an oath which no man can break .

He is staying in the marriage because he had no intentions of ever leaving the marriage to begin with.
