I don't think a lot I just stare at the clock until my eyes burn. And when I shut them I still don't fall asleep, I stare at the inside of my eyelids. What's the matter?

i am like that.. the only thing that helps is getting up really really early and be really busy. so you phsyically can't stay awake tha night anymore... like you don't know you have slept until you wake up the next morning

if that makes sense... it is 04-43 am here :|

You could be expierencing episodes of insomnia. I went through this and found these things to work.
1. at the same time every night lay down on a couch or somewhere besides your bed...play something soft with no words in the backround just loud enough to hear..until you feel reaaly sleepy..then get into bed, so that your body is relaxed and tired when you climb in.
2. Do not drink any caffiene, or eat anything with caffiene in it for at least 4 hours before bed.
3. write down on a pad of paper everything you are thinking about, even if you don't think your thinking..your brain is always busy..go until you feel you have it all down. Then lay down and breathe in and out very deeply..in through your nose out through your mouth.
4. turn out all the lights, and plug in a fan or something for white noise....having something making a constant same monotone noise will make you sleepier.
5. Do not look at any clocks, it only makes it worse. if you have to remove the clocks from your room, and if you need and alarm clock then just either face it away from you, or black tape over the numbers.
Doing these things in any combo should help you. It make take a week or so, but, scheduling yourself will help..get ready for bed at the same time every night if you can.
Also a good long soak in the tub always helps.

You might be drinking too much caffeine, or drinking it few hours before your sleep time. So many soft drinks have caffeine, as well as tea and coffee of course, but actually caffeine can get into some manufactured foods as well, especially some types of cakes and sorbets. Some herbs also cause sleep problems such as jinseng. Some people said they were highly strung and could not sleep after a diet of shell fish. In 70% of the cases, it is something you eat or drink. Some people have 'a fear of sleep' due to childhood problems that had to do with a parent's death. Finally, sugar addiction (a really big sweet tooth :o)) causes this condition as well.
