I live in California and I love that restaurants here don't allow any smoking at all. Why would anyone want to smell smoke while they eat, even if it's in permitted areas? You can still smell cigarettes throughout the entire restaurant while people are smoking at the bar, there's just no escape. So, question is.............Is smoking permitted in restaurants, bars in Florida? In Cali it's not OK to smoke anywhere and I love it. We are moving to Florida's East Coast and I just wonder about that.......... Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with your opinions about smoking and you'll be happy to know FL law says it is illegal for a person to smoke in a restaurant (with or without a bar) or in a bar that serves food. Smoking is allowed in bars that don't serve food. Also it is illegal to smoke inside public buildings i.e. grocery stores and malls, etc. Its virtually the same as Cali laws.

Well, I for one think it is a discrimination on my right to smoke. It is my right as an American and now certain cities are putting No-Smoking Bans up in all the restaurants. Makes me very mad!!!! I won't be eating out anymore!!!! What gets me is they have just done this and all the restaurants already had the ventilation systems in. People have been smoking for years and are NOT going to stop until they are good and ready to, not letting us smoke in your restaurants will just keep us from eating there and you will loose money. It is cheaper to eat at home anyway!!!! And what is up with not smoking in bars???? The government is now going to tell a private business owner how to run his business -- I think not. It sounds like this country is going into the "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING" zone!!! That really sucks!!! We are supposed to be a FREE country, what happened to that???

no there is no smoking in resturants, unless they have an outdoor eating area, if bars serve food (other than snacks) then they too aren't allowed to let people smoke.
