How do male chimpanzees work out their competitive nature? How do female?

We are in some ways like the Chimps and in other ways like our other close simian cousin, the Bonobo. We hear a lot about the Chimps, not so much about the Bonobo, a chimp-like animal who would much rather make love than war.
And we are very different from both, in that we have a far more complex consciousness, with which we can train our animal nature to overcome its preoccupation with its own immediate needs. We hunans are an intermediate stage between animal and angel. Therein lies our dillema.
