After you apply for a job with tons of paper work, and you get no response, what do you do if you feel you meet at least 75% of requirements? Do you just forget about it, hoping that somehow they will respond later than you were hoping, and just continue applying for other jobs? Or do you call or e-mail them to ask about the status of your application? Is there some strategy in doing this?

it's always worth your while to call in about a week and ask for the name of who you're speaking with after you've finished your conversation. always ask to speak with someone in charge, because any other employee might not be able to help you adequately. be polite, yet sure of yourself and your achievements.

Sadly perfectly normal. I'm a freelancer now, although I do still occasionally apply for a decent permanent role if it looks good (and pays well). Maybe 1 in 10 I get the courtesy of a reply from, if I'm lucky... Even as a freelancer, sometimes I go to a lot of effort to write a proposal (can often take a whole day) and get some crappy generic reply back, again, if I'm lucky. People have no manners! Keep at it though, something will turn up!

After a week, follow up and find out if they have made a decision yet or are still in the process. If they are still deciding, you can ask when they expect to make a decision, and follow up again then, if you still don't hear. In the meantime, continue to apply for other jobs so that you have other irons in the fire if this job doesn't come through. Good luck!

You should call them back after a week while continuing on the job hunt. Be persistant with the employer and you will stand out. You may also visit http://freedom.ws/jaboopster . We are hiring emailers and if you are interrested click on GDI video online and take a look at it. That's what you would be emailing to potential customers. Best wishes!
