I heard somewhere that you are suppose to point a boy's penis downward when changing his diaper so that urine doesn't shoot out. The nurses at the hospital never mentioned this to me. It makes sense I suppose, but at my son's age it's a bit small to point in any direction. It's just like a stub and it really can't go in any direction. Are any moms able to point it downwards or does anyone do that?

Yes. When my son was born, the nurses at my hospital did tell me to point his penis down. I don't remember ever not being able to. Now he's 18 months and it pretty much points down on its own, so I just leave it that way when I change diapers. I'd say, if you don't have a problem with urine coming out of the top of the diaper, then don't worry about it.

yes if you do not point in downward you are not only going to have to get him a new diaper but a new shirt . Make sure it is not pointing to the side or you will have to get him a dry pants as well.

I have read your other questions regarding the size as well. I noticed some people were offended by your question and weren't very nice to you. I am not offended at all, because I understand your concern.

I can't answer your question, because I have no experience in this subject.

However, I suggest the next time you bring your boy to the doctor, tell the doctor your concern about his penis size. Doctors have experience in this matter. He would take a look and give you a much better answer than people here on Yahoo! Answers.

With my 7mo old nephew, we point it down because if we don't, he pees up where the "padding" isn't. We've had to do this since day one. Your option, it's not gonna hurt him any. If you don't and he starts to soak through diapers, then I would start the downward pointing.

Disposable diapers for boys have more padding at the front and higher up, disposable diapers for girls have more padding underneath.

Let your son's penis lie whatever way is more comfortable for him. Don't force it. It's even possible to break a penis -- and even a baby's can on occasion be erect.

Yeah, just point the little wanker downwards as best you can, it keeps them from peeing on their shirts. Seriously.

Speaking from messy experiences, you should point it down. If it's not pointing down the urine just leaks out everywhere.
