human beings are somewhat speedy to spout off approximately the way it is like evaluating "apples to oranges." How ironic, once you think approximately that whether issues are starting to be extra sensible for interracial couples, there are nonetheless some factors of the rustic the place issues nonetheless have not replaced all that lots. So why might desire to we nonetheless be greatly surprised that gay rights remains a pink-warm concern, as quickly as we nonetheless as an entire have not somewhat dealt with the concern of race? And BTW, Marc E. needs to flow lower back and crack some Black history books. sure, non-white races have been subjected to oppression and brutality on a scale that grew to become into surprising, yet lest we overlook, there have been additionally slave-vendors and sellers and procurers who have been additionally not white. So ease off of your extreme horse there, bruddah.

-Both were at first rejected by most of America.
-Both could have been banned by proposed constitutional amendments. (Interracial marriage ban proposed in 1911, Gay Marriage ban proposed in 2004, 2006.)
-Both amendments were rejected by Congress.
-Both were (gay marriage still is) condemned by preachers and "experts".
-Both were considered and gay marriage still is considered, a threat to "traditional" marriage.
Both are becoming more acceptable with each passing generation.
-Interracial marriage was at first outlawed in every state, was slowly accepted, Alabama was the last to end interracial marriage bans in 2000.
-Gay marriage was outlawed in every state, we now have one state where it's legal, a few states where a version of it is legal. Because of how fast American society is moving, I predict within 30-40 years, gay marriage will be legal nationwide at both the federal and state levels.
-Both do nothing to harm "traditional" marriage, interracial marriage hasn't, gay marriage won't.
-Yea, they have A LOT in common.

Yes, they will both one day be "history" as far as the memory of their early disapproval's by society. In another 20 years we'll have to remind people what it used to be like. I know its (society) has changed tremendously in the last 20 years. Since 1987 we've become public on television, the radio, got our own stations, clubs, labels, on and on. It will only get better.

They don't really have anything in common other than the fact that some people tend to frown on both. Other than that, I don't see how they can be compared.
