late august, about 113 degrees and the city closed the schools in fear of blackout due to to much power being used.

It is sometimes really hot in Wichita, Kansas at the start of the season and not all of the schools have air conditioning. They haven't cancelled schools but they have done 1/2 day classes.
Temps over 100 F and no AC is just crazy.

I live in Texas, and it can get pretty hot during some parts of the year, but we don't have heat days. I'm not sure if anyone does, it's not like a snow or ice day when it's dangerous to travel.

If the air conditioning system breaks down or they lose power to the building, yes, they will close that affected school building.

yeah they do even in places where its not hot. i live in minnesota and in my district just north of minneapolis we had more days canceled because it was hot and there was no air conditioning in my school than because it was cold throughout my school years.

Never! How can it be too hot?? We would have air conditioning... if anything they would make us run inside the gym instead of outside.
