You have no idea what the person wants the money for. They could be homeless or just someone who is dressed dirty conducting a survey to see if Americans have any morals left today. If you feel comfortable giving someone money and it makes you feel good inside, then don't worry about what your boyfriend says. If you have a job it's not going to be your last dollar anyway and it's just money. People are too busy worring about money these days and not looking at what makes a person. Do what make you feel good, don't worry about what the person is going to do with the dollar.

I agree with both of your point of views. I feel bad for the homeless and I remember one time I gave a homeless man a few bucks. But at the same time I believe they should try to get a job and want to do better for themselves.

In this world today for the most part I would have to go along with your boyfriend ,but I also know what your saying about not knowing there situation . I would like to Help too with a dollar or two at times but with all that go's on today I tend to not give, and maybe that's not right ,but If I know that the money was needed I would give more then a doller or two , so I think we have to go along with our gut feeling at the time we run into this situation ......................Have a good one ....Mel..........................

yes I always wonder why they can't get jobs but it seems a lot have mental issues, maybe criminal past, older, etc. a lot of ppl would discriminate if they didnt have a car to get to work, no nice clothes for the interview, etc. my boyfriend does a good thing and if someone sign says they havent eaten or are hungry he'll say "well lets head over to this gas station and ill get ya something" so he knows they arent spending it on something else

I do agree with you. But I tend to give money to older people versus younger ones.

charity is not a bad thing but your boyfriend has somewhat of a point that you dont know where that money is going. personally i will offer to take them to mcdonalds or somewhere and buy them some food if they turn it down then you know where that money was going to go

I agree with your boyfriend- I don't think you should reward people that are making a living out of begging.

I agree with you. We don't know what other peoples needs are. For all I know, he might be buying milk for his kids. I do what I think is right.
