absolutely not. Whether people accept the fact or not, male soldiers in a combat environment have a high risk of losing discipline with a female around. I am in the Army, sex has a way of rending a unit apart. Imagine your platoon sergeant is a female and she ends up favoring a few soldiers over others. In a combat situation, this could have disastrous results as some of her soldiers have become less trusting of her and perhaps would not follow orders. Also, no matter what happens, there will always be the stigma that females are weaker, and no male soldier will want a female leading them in a combat area. Look, it's no secret, females are built differently than males. And it may be politically incorrect to say so, but in the Army, female standards for Physical Training are much lower than male standards. The only event that is comparable is the sit-up. So this would create dislike from the lower enlisted males also. Another worry would be chivalry. A male soldier may shirk his duty in combat while being concerned about the well being of a female soldier. This is just human nature. All in all, i believe the military has made the wise choice in denying female soldiers from infantry units. There are plenty of females who do see combat though, and a good share of it, they just are not in an infantry unit. Most are support units like medics, Civil Affairs, Military Intel, and other non-combat specialties. Also, i have never heard a large outcry from females about never being able to go infantry.

Yes, why not? Whether I had a daughter or son, WHAT DIFFERENCE does it make? Actually in either case I would not want them to serve in combat but I would certainly not differentiate between the two.
If men serve in combat, why not women?

I would NOT want my daughter serving in combat, but I would give her my blessing if that is what she really wanted to do....exactly the same situation if it were my son. The thought of anyone I love fighting in combat scares me to death, whether they are male or female.

We have a woman running for president in 2008, if that doesn't prove that there is no difference in the capabilities of the sexes than nothing will.....

it doesnt matter if you or me or anyone parents would let her serve in combat. if she is over 18 then none of us have a say in the matter. and you know what women are equal to men and if you dont like the way America is then you can get out.

I would rather have one female that wanted to serve in a combat position than five guys that did not it is all about what that individual person wants to do

I do and i would if they'd let me in probably too old now and i'd kick ***. And if i had a daughter and she wanted to serve in combat i'd respect her decision but i would worry. And it wouldn't worry if my son or daughter was in combat. Bullits and bombs don't care if your male or female, they'll take you just the same.

Yes, I believe women are capable of performing extremely well in combat.

Women generally have a higher tolerance to pain than most men.

Yes, I would let my daughter serve in the military. For one, it is her choice, and I would want her to be happy.

No. I would not want my daughter to serve. I'm old fashioned but feel men are better suited to serve in combat, but wish no one had to.
