I'm basically the new person in the office although I've been there 5 years. A co worker hasn't liked me from the start. Although some days she is nice to me, some days she totally ignores me. If a male co worker comes into our area, she will run up and start talking to him and stand so her back blocks me. She also does this in the break room. She totally tries to alienate me. She tries to act like she's very popular. We are both middle aged-it's very pathetic. I'm not sure how to handle this. I'm always nice to her. Does she really hate me that much or is she jealous? (of what, no clue)

She sounds possessive as if she cannot stand the thought of you getting any attention. God Forbid you should ever feel Comfortable! It IS pathetic but never let Her know it. Women bite! Be nice to her without having to kiss her a** and maybe when she feels you don't care if she's popular or whether You are either, she might calm down. I assume you are on equal status so she is THREATENED by you. Plain and simple. Try not to get too sick of her. You earned your job . She's the nut! Good Luck!! My Sympathies!! No joke!! @8-)

Do you believe in Love at first sight? Then this is the counterpart... Hate at first sight. There are instances that a person hates another for no reason at all. Don't be upset nor affected they are just living organisms that do not use their cerebellum just here on earth to inhale and exhale. Been there.

Who cares? Just forget about her and do your job. There's always going to be someone like that trying to bring you down. Don't you dare let her. Just keep your head up and keep your dignity in tact. If she wants to behave foolishly, let her. Stay strong and stay true to yourself and you'll be just fine, you hear?

Don't bother. Ignore her as she ignore you. But do it nicely, so that people still thinks she's the bad one.
