I'd recommend driving to Coronado or taking the ferry over. Once you're there, rent a bike and check out the area, there are tons of bike paths and you can get great views of the downtown skyline, bay bridge, the ocean, and stop by the Hotel Del Coronado while you're there. If you like hiking, head up to Torrey Pines for good trails on the ocean and views. You should also walk around the La Jolla Cove area, it's probably the best piece of coastline in the area and you can walk south to see the seals at Children's Pool. Cabrillo monument has good views and trails too.

If you like natural scenery and views I would also check out Cabrillo National Monument, Torrey Pines State Reserve, The Cliffs near UCSD in La Jolla, The UCSD Gliderport in La Jolla, Mt Soledad and Mission Trails Regional Park. Also you should hang out and walk around Mission Beach, near Belmot Park, and walk down Garnett Ave in Pacific Beach. Downtown La Jolla is also a really nice area to walk around. For nightlife you'd probably want the Gaslamp downtown, PB is a younger crowd but great nightlife too.

There are lots of museums in Balboa Park if you enjoy that. Besides the San Diego Zoo, there is also the Wild Animal Park in Escondido.
If you enjoy wine, there are some great wineries in San Diego and more north in Temecula.
There are companies that offer guided kayak and biking tours where you would join other people. Kayaking through the La Jolla caves is a popular excursion.

Downtown San Diego offers a great Gaslamp District with good food and clubs, bars. Seaworld and the zoo are also within close distance to one another. "The Shouthouse" is a great place on 5th ave that you would enjoy. And there is also a great seafood place called the "Tin Fish" off of Imperial Beach Pier if you liike seafood. I would also recommended seaport village, again located in Downtown San Diego. Enjoy!

You want to be sure to see Balboa Park as well as the Cabrillo Lighthouse. Mt. Solidad is a good place to see the city from. Stop by Coronado for sure and Downtown La Jolla is also a place you should visit.

I have always enjoyed the Gaslamp District. If there you must try the Yardhouse, great food and 100 different beers on tap. Only 3 dollars during Happy Hour!!!
