Oral. The only time I have ever used an ear thermometer was at school or a doctor's office. I plan to avoid the anal ones.

actually, when i worked in the emergency room, i participated in a study on how accurate ear thermometers were compared to anal and oral. the ear ones aren't as accurate, anal is most accurate, and oral was almost as accurate, but off just a little.

Oral or ear, but if my husband had his way he would take my temperature anally, using his own personal thermometer!

Oral...but to see if I can stay home from school, first I let my parents feel my forehead. If they think I have a fever, whether I do or not, I'm home! And if they don't think I do, but I do, I break out the old oral thermo.

When I have a fever, I don't use a thermometer. Why do we need to know the number? It's either a high fever, or a low-grade fever. Big deal. I take medicine.

An oral or tympanic(ear) thermometer will do just fine. The tympanic thermometer actually reads your core temperature and is therefore more reliable if taken correctly.

Oral for me, but hospitals usually use a ear cause it is faster. Anal is mostly used for babies and small children.
