Hey guys,

I was wondering what is the procedure required to be a labor and delivery nurse?

I know a community college that offers Associates RN program, and it's two years, and upon completion of that, I can take license/certification test. By doing so will qualify me as a Registered nurse. How do I become L&D nurse?

I read on some sites that I need to finish the RN program and then apply for license? But the sites weren't that credible.

Thanks for your help!!

Just finish a program that allows you to sit for the nursing board exam in your state (NCLEX-RN) Once you've passed that, you're an RN. Then apply at the new grad programs in the L&D unit of your local hospital. You'll have better luck getting right into L&D in a large metropolitan area, smaller hospitals tend to want experience in L&D first and also the nurses who are there don't want to leave because L&D is a happy floor. I didn't have trouble finding a job, it took maybe three interviews to find the one I wanted.
