It isn't... That's just more crapola being said by those who want to stay there until they have control over the oil fields - ya know - the Washington crowd.

On the other hand, it could be good for troop morale. I just read that most troops would prefer to leave Iraq.

It would be bad for troop morale because they would feel they were leaving a job undone and possibly feel as if the time they have already spent there was basically worthless. It would be bad overall because it would lead to utter chaos in Iraq.

Oh I don't know. Maybe the fact that thousands of their friends died for nothing. That the mission wasn't finished. Maybe that they know it will cost even more American lives in the future when we have to go back in. Those are just off the top of my head. Pulling out is only good for one thing, preventing pregnancy.

Why,
You equip and train the best force in the world. You engage them in a mission for over four years. They know they have the cabability to prevail but then you are going to tell them they have to leave? How would this effect you if you were in their boots?

It's saying that we are going to accept defeat. If we are going to be satisfied being loosers why should they continue to risk their lives. They can't just quit, they'd have to wait for a pullout, so would you want to go on? It's also telling them that all their sacrifices were for nothing.
