First: combine "like" terms...

5x - x = 11

4x = 11

Sec: isolate "x" on one side --- divide both terms by "4"...

4x/4 = 11/4

x = 11/4

P.S. The solution doesn't have to be in decimal form, unless your teacher asks you to do so.

u have subtract 5x from -x
then u wull get
4x=11
then u have to divide both side by 4x
then u will get
x=11/4

to check, just substitute 2.75 to the variable (x)

5(2.75)-2.75=?
13.75-2.75=?
answer=11

So, The Answer is x=2.75
