I have recently refurbished an antique clawfoot tub. I special ordered the drain assembly that comes in the original size of 1-3/8". The only problem is in the floor is new 1-1/2" sch 40 PVC. I failed to research how to adapt the 1-3/8" to the trap. Of course all places only carry 1-1/4" & 1-1/2" trap adapters. Can anyone please tell me where to locate the adapter I need to complete this?

use a fernco adaptor, it's made out of rubber and has a hose clamp on both ends. You'll need an 1 1/2 one, but it will compress down on the tub drain good enough to seal it, put a piece of 1 1/2 pvc out the other side and you can connect to the existing pvc. Any Home Improvment store will carry them, about $5

Try going to Galvanized steel. It matches up real well with PVC.
