I live in US and I dont like living here so much.
I think the culture really sucks.
Do some people in Australia not like living there also or does everybody like it?
I think it is our Hollywood that makes our culture so ugly. I mean we grew up watching some pretty rotten sit-coms and movies, so it affected our outlook and many it affected the way they act.
Did Australia also have many ugly television programs in the past 20-30 years as well?
Where is your movies and shows made?

There are parts about living in Australia that I don't like, for instance our current Prime Minister, but for the most part living in Australia is great.
Pros:
*fantastic weather
*wide range of scenery in one country, we have deserts, rainforests, golden beaches, snowy mountains, tropical islands, Aussie bushland and so much more.
*Quality of life is very good, we have a decent welfare system and public healthcare, most people are well off financially.
*We are very multicultural, for instance Melbourne has the largest population of Greek people outside of Greece.
*Most people are friendly, easy-going, and down to earth. There are the occasional uptight 'suits' and in some areas you'll find the people aren't very tolerant of other races or gay people, but I guess that happens in every country.

CONS:
*Because we are under the hole in the Ozone layer, statistics say that 50% of Australians will develop a form of skin cancer in their lifetime. That's pretty nasty.
*The above mentioned intolerant Aussie rednecks
*We are in a state of drought at the moment - in the state I live in they have enforced level 3 water restrictions which means we can only water our gardens between certain times of day on the weekends, you can only wash your car with a bucket of water and lot of other restrictions. If we break these restrictions we could be reported by our neighbours and fined. They are also talking about recycling sewage water for drinking.
*Housing can be quite expensive. In my city, Adelaide, which is one of the smallest capital cities in Australia, to get a reasonable 3 bedroom house you're looking at upwards of $300,000. In places like Sydney and Melbourne it is a LOT more than that.

About TV: Most of the television shows and movies we see come from the US so we grow up on the same stuff. We have a few long running Australian dramas and cop shows, but even nowadays they are quite tame. There is nothing so gruesome in them as you would find in shows like Law & Order or even Medium.
Most Australian tv shows are light hearted comedy or emotional dramas. But like I said, our tv stations and movie theatres are dominated by American stuff, we get most of your major tv shows. The Simpsons is on almost every single day and sometimes twice a day, as is Futurama, Seinfeld... we get all 3 Law & Order programs, Medium, NCIS, 24, Lost, Without a Trace, all 3 CSI shows, Cops, Oprah, Dr Phil, Alias, Scrubs... and the list goes on. Thankfully we have a couple of non-commercial networks that show mostly non-US shows so we have a choice.

So, that was pretty long winded but hopefully you gleaned some insight from it : ) You should come to Australia if you hate the US so much!

I'm 18 also & absolutely love London Tbh I don't think I could ever move away haha ! I mean.. going up to the city & seeing all the great sites is like wow I actually live here.. you should appreciate how lucky you are. The only reason it's expensive is because you're paying to live in one of the most famous places in the world. I go to the country sometimes.. like Dorset & that but I just would not be able to live there!! I mean they have like 1 bus an hour.. nowhere to go of a night.. surrounded by fields.. etc. Ok now I've rambled. But basically if you don't like it then move?

Please don't take this the wrong way...

It's a bit of everything!!

Often people in Australia tend to judge people from the U.S as perhaps a little 'up themselves' or a little bit 'over-confident'...

Some have an image of the U.S being a very dangerous place, having guns illegal, things like that...

I tend to find Canadians much more down to earth... Then, I could be just meeting the wrong people from the U.S!!??

Australia certainly boasts multiculturalism though, and it is a very easy going, laid-back place to live... This can be either very comfortable to a point where some just don't feel the need to set foot out of Australia..... Then again, it can be soooo laid back to a point where you just want to get out there for bigger and better things...

As the add says 'I still call Australia home'...

Keen to see what others feel.

I moved to Australia from the US and I hate it here! It's very, very expensive - I'm talking 3-4 times more expensive than the US - and the people are RUDE as heck!! Rude, snobby, judgmental.. It's awful. I fully regret moving here and wish I could go to sleep and wake up back in Texas. It's fine to visit just to say you've been here but don't move here!

Well we did have some crappy TV shows here (from America sorry no offence intended) like today, the bold and the beautiful etc,etc but that didn't make me hate living in the best country in the world if something crappy came on tv, either turn it over or turn it off, anyway most movies we see here are from America

It seems like you are having a "flight of ideas" running through your head. Your question makes no sense at all.
